Charlie’s Story
In 2007, Charlie was walking across the street and was hit by a car driven by a distracted driver, who was in a hurry. Most people have their own Charlie, someone they have loved or known, who was senselessly critically injured or killed because someone was distracted or negligent while driving. After years of being hospitalized, Charlie passed away in 2018. Charlie’s Cause was created by Charlie’s sister, Dianne, to bring awareness to pedestrian and bicycle safety. The Step Up for Safety Run/Walk was formed as a fundraising/educational event to meet the goals of Charlie’s Cause.
More than just a Race
The event will be more than just a race. There will be booths to visit, snacks and food, information about pedestrian and bicycle safety, and activities for kids and adults alike.
